A good reference book

All,
I suggest you get a copy of "Kiss, Bow or Shake Hands" by Terri Morrison and Wayne Conaway. It is a wonderful book about different cultures and is designed for business travelers. It provides basic information (tips on doing business, country history, type of government, languages spoken, cultural orientation, protocol, business etiquette) from the "road warrior" perspective. Not that we don't have enough to read... See you tonigh

  1. I agree, I have used this book for several years and I have given this to my global teams. It is not intended to give you all the information you will need to "not be offensive" to other cultures, but you can have more information than you mght otherwise have available, especially working in other countries...sort of a travel guide book for getting along in business. Your collegues will appreciate your efforts to understand some of their nuances and helps to break the ice. Books in the series are also available specifically focused on APAC or EMEA (do you kiss once, twice or three times...this can trip you up when you meet someone from Europe :).)

    Happy travels!

  2. Mike, thanks for sharing. Yes, I used to refer similar book in the past till I got comfortable with most of the countries I frequently visited on business trip. You definitely will be "less offesive" by studying the culture/country before boarding that flight.
